Surgical Options

Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding is a purely restrictive surgical procedure in which a band is placed around the uppermost part of the stomach. This serves to divide the stomach into two parts, a smaller upper portion and a larger lower one. Food travels through the normal digestive process and patients feel full and satisfied with small meals.

Gastric Sleeve Surgery, also known as Gastric Sleeve Resection or Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG), is a restrictive type of weight loss surgery that permanently reduces the size of the stomach. It promotes weight loss by limiting food intake and lessening the sensation of hunger; it does not involve intestinal rerouting or food malabsorption

Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass is a combined restrictive and malabsorptive procedure where a large portion of the stomach and the first part of the small intestine is bypassed. Gastric bypass is the most frequently performed weight loss procedure in the United States. Patients report complete elimination of hunger and satisfaction with eating only small amounts of food.
